From 2013 to 2016 Annegien van Doorn took pictures of the inside of the Damrak 70 building, located at the Damrak in Amsterdam. The famous building had to be renovated and was rented out to cultural entrepreneurs in the meantime. Annegien van Doorn documented the building with its characteristic elements and eye-catching tenant’s traces over the course of three years.
Together with Van Doorn we developed the concept of the book. The pictures are flowing over the pages and some are “folded” over the page’s edges. By eliminating all decorative elements it’s form stays true to Dutch Design. All text and the book’s index were moved to the dust jacket–resulting in a pure and timeless document.
